As a former coach, teacher and headteacher, I genuinely believe every child and adult will benefit hugely from the SUMO approach. It will make THE difference.
SUMO strategies are deceptively simple and stunningly powerful. In a world where “wellbeing” and “resilience” can feel vague and difficult to define, SUMO cuts through the academic language with accessible approaches that really work!
Drew Povey, Educating Manchester, Leadership consultant
SUMO has become the shared vocabulary for wellbeing and resilience across our alternative provision settings. The young people we work with face many emotional and behavioural challenges. SUMO has made a hugely positive difference to them and to the relationships in our learning communities.

Staff training, INSET and Strategic support
Having recently received SUMO for school training, all staff have started term with a common positivity and enthusiasm.
The training provided was delivered with a great deal of humour and relevant anecdotal references which engaged all teaching and learning support staff from the onset. Kevin was able to provide practical solutions in the use of SUMO techniques in the everyday life of a busy school.
The training did not only provide useful tools to re-engage pupils but had many staff questioning their own way of thinking.
Thank you to Kevin for an entertaining and practical start to our new academic year.
Helen Evans, Deputy Headteacher, Bryn Deva Primary School, Flintshire
Really engaging and funny whole staff training session to kick off the new school year. With such a focus on staff well-being, this offers teachers the tools to keep their well-being a priority. The 7 questions to help you SUMO has remained a topic of conversations in the staff room and department areas since the session and is a really easy guide to help us all to feel in control.
Michelle Critchlow, Deputy Headteacher, St Paul's Catholic High School, Manchester
Amazing! Useful for all. Led really well and engaging. The resources are great and really helpful. Thanks!
Lots of useful, practical ideas to use in lessons. Looking forward to using the booklets full of lesson ideas.
It has encouraged us to look at ourselves before we start thinking of how children can be helped. Good concepts, looking forward to giving them our own personal stamp and implementing them throughout the school.
There was lots of laughter and learning, and engaging collaborative activities. Thank you very much.

Fab first morning back - making us really think about Making A Difference everyday. Brilliant strategies to use with the children.
The principles within SUMO are readily understandable even by young children and easily adopted; encouraging open and genuinely assertive behaviour traits based on honesty and empathy.

SUMO4 Schools Primary has had a profound impact on the wellbeing of the children and staff in my school.

Fantastic training - presented very clearly and with good subject knowledge. Resources provided were very professional, and again, clear and concise. Very impressive. Exceeded my expectations! Thank you
A very good staff meeting. You had everyone listening and engaged (which is good after a long day!). The ideas are good and I really like the resources to use in school - it all seems relevant and accessible to the children
A range of strategies to try out immediately. Well presented set of resources, easy to use without having to search for additional equipment.
Y2 Teacher / Curriculum Manager
A fun session with great ideas. Resource pack is excellent and will be well used. Thanks.
Thank you! Amazing ideas and lots of things to think about.
Lots of useful things to think about and try out. Thank you!
I like the beachball idea as a visual problem solving tool for EYFS. Children can respond to colours alongside feelings
IN-class support anD SUMO Workshops
SUMO has helped by teaching me to control my temper and calm down!
The SUMO Lessons have really helped my way of learning and thinking, especially the ‘seven questions’. I use them whenever I come across a problem.
My SUMO Inner Coach is like the man on Mario Kart who holds up the sign saying ‘you’re going the wrong way!’
Children fully engaged and listened well. Looking forward to using the strategies with the children.
Nadia and Emma were calm and respectful all the way through. A shining example of the expectations they set for the children.
It was fun having SUMO4Schools here with the hats and the beachball.
I will try and use the blue cap more often.
I will try and use E+R=O more and the blue cap.
I think lots of children in the UK should try and improve their lives from SUMO!
I will try and remember that everyone has a different point of view.
I think the teachers are really nice and positive. Because of them they taught me more about SUMO.
I would definitely use the beach ball in friendship issues. It was fun!
To know that everyone has a different opinion.
I think SUMO is a great way to start being calm and kind to each other.
I’ve learned to react differently and respect people’s opinions.
